TIL I was masking tape wrong for 15 years

Watched a PPG rep at a clinic in Tulsa show how to burnish the edges with a plastic knife and realized I've been getting bleed-under on every two-tone job I've done since 2009.

Watch a pro do the thing you've been doing wrong for years and suddenly every YouTube tutorial you trusted feels like a scam.

That plastic knife trick changed my whole approach too.

@gibson.avery nailed it. I spent a decade thinking I was some kind of masking tape savant just to realize I was basically taping my cars with wet paper towels. The plastic knife trick alone would have saved me from repainting a whole fender in 2017 because I got bleed-through on the edge. My wife still jokes that my tape job looked like a kindergartner's art project compared to the PPG guy in the video. Maybe I should start a support group for people who learned they've been doing basic tape wrong their whole lives.

feels like a scam?" That's a bit dramatic.
