Tried a cheap paint mixing cup and got orange peel everywhere
Honestly, I grabbed a generic mixing cup from a parts store last week, thought it would save a few bucks. Mixed up a gallon of urethane for a Honda Accord on Wednesday and sprayed it. The cup had no graduation marks that lined up right, so my ratio was off by like 15 percent. Ended up with heavy orange peel on the whole passenger side door and had to wet sand it for two hours. Learned the hard way that cheap cups mess with your mix ratio more than you think. Anyone else run into bad cups messing up a job?

Man I did the same thing with a $7 cup from Amazon last month. Mixed up a pint of single stage for a customers fender and the marks were off by like a quarter cup. Ended up with this nasty texture that looked like an alligator hide, had to strip it and start over. Spent more time sanding than I did mixing and spraying combined.

That cheap cup thing is real. I tried using one of those dollar store measuring cups for mixing and the numbers were completely wrong, messed up a whole gallon of primer. Speaking of cheap stuff, @ruby_henderson36 probably knows all about that from working with paint.
