Vent: I spent 3 years wet sanding everything wrong
Finally figured out I was using way too much water pressure and just pushing the dirt around instead of actually cutting the clear coat. A buddy at a shop in St. Louis watched me for 30 seconds and called me out on it. Anyone else have a moment where a simple mistake made all your past work look bad?

That "just pushing the dirt around instead of cutting" part hit me hard... It's funny how we can do something the wrong way for years and convince ourselves it's fine. I notice this same pattern with people learning to cook, they'll drown everything in oil thinking it prevents sticking but really they're just boiling their food. Or people who hammer a nail with a too small hammer and wonder why their arm gets tired. Once someone shows you the simple fix, you look back at all that wasted effort and shake your head.

Wait, @parkerbrown, do you REALLY think that tool size thing is the same as technique? Using a hammer that's too small is just making the job harder, not doing the wrong motion like trapping dirt with too much water pressure.
