Hot take: drip irrigation is overrated for small gardens

I spent a whole weekend installing a drip system in my 200 square foot veggie patch last spring, and honestly it was a pain. The lines kept clogging from hard water, and I must have spent $80 on fittings alone. I switched back to a simple soaker hose setup from Home Depot for $12, and my tomatoes are actually doing better this year. Anyone else ditch their drip system for something simpler?

Oh boy, I feel your pain! I had the exact same experience with my little garden last year, the hard water clogs drove me nuts and I ended up ripping the whole thing out.

Wait, didn't someone on here say hard water can actually leave a crust that blocks drip lines too? I saw a post about using vinegar soaks to break it up before it gets that bad. Might be worth a try if you ever replant.

Wait, was it really hard water? Sounds more like mineral buildup from the soil.
