Hot take: fake grass is a mistake I'll never make again

Laid down 500 square feet of artificial turf in my Phoenix backyard last summer and now it hits 150 degrees by noon - my dog won't even walk on it. Anyone else deal with turf turning into a griddle or did I just buy the wrong kind?

Man that sucks. I put down turf in my backyard in Tucson a couple years ago and same problem exactly. The surface gets so hot you could literally fry an egg on it by 2pm. My dog started refusing to go outside at all and I felt terrible. Ended up having to buy those cooling mats and shade sails just to make it usable. The salespeople never mention this stuff when they're selling you on low maintenance.
