I finally gave up on a backyard project halfway through and left it for 3 weeks

I was putting in a dry creek bed along the side of my house near the downspouts, dug the whole trench and lined it with landscape fabric, then a cold snap hit here in Kansas City and I just walked away. Three weeks later the fabric was full of dead leaves and mud, and I had to dig it all out again because the edges had collapsed. Has anyone else just hit a wall on a project and left it for way longer than you meant to?

Oh man, I totally feel your pain. I've got a half-dug hole in my backyard right now that's been sitting there for two weeks because I just lost all motivation. I mean, it's supposed to be a little fish pond but right now it's just a muddy pit that catches every stray leaf in the neighborhood. The worst part is every time I walk past it I feel this little jolt of guilt, but then I just keep walking inside and make coffee instead. Idk what it is about outdoor projects, they just feel so much bigger when you're standing in the cold staring at a mess you made. Honestly, I think half of us are just one bad weather day away from quitting anything with dirt involved.

Man that hole stares right through me every morning. I swear it judges me while I drink my coffee. Dug it three weeks ago to fix a drainage issue. Now it's just a mud puddle full of guilt and rainwater. Every time I walk past I tell myself "today's the day" but then I just grab another shovel full of excuses instead of dirt. Solidarity bro, solidary.
