Just finished laying 1,200 square feet of sod by hand and my back is killing me

I decided to tackle my muddy lawn in one weekend and didn't realize how heavy each roll would be. After the final piece, I counted and I moved over 150 individual pallets. What's the best tool or method to make this easier if I ever have to do it again?

Used to think a wheelbarrow was overkill, but moving that many pallets would change your mind fast.

Ever try one of those big two-wheeled garden carts? They're way better than a regular wheelbarrow for moving pallets of stuff like sod. @victorh81 is right, a normal wheelbarrow tips over too easy with that much weight. The two wheels up front keep it stable so you can just load it up and push. Saved my back big time when I did my whole yard last fall.

My last big sod project ended with me walking like a cartoon hunchback for three days. A sod roller would have saved my spine, but I was too cheap to rent one. Next time I'm just paying the neighbor's kid to do the heavy lifting.
