Just found out how much water my new sod actually needs
I was reading the care sheet from the garden center where I bought my tall fescue sod last month. It said new sod needs about an inch of water per day for the first two weeks, which is way more than I was giving it. I've been using a rain gauge to check, and I was only hitting half that. No wonder some patches looked a bit sad. Has anyone else had to totally change their watering routine after getting new grass?

Oh man, I did the exact same thing. My first batch of sod got the "polite sprinkler" treatment too, like I was trying not to disturb its beauty sleep. Ended up with a yard that looked like a dehydrated zombie apocalypse, all brown and crumbly. I even tried reasoning with it, telling it I gave it water so it should be happy. That's when my neighbor came over, laughed at me, and showed me his swamp of a lawn that was somehow thriving. Now I just stand out there with the hose for twenty minutes every morning feeling like a moron while my grass guzzles it down. At least we're learning together, even if it means our water bills are now basically a second mortgage.

Oh man, my first sod was a total CRIME SCENE. I was so proud of my little watering can routine, giving it a polite sprinkle like I was serving tea. Turns out I was basically just making the top dust wet. The grass turned this sad, crispy yellow, like it was giving me the silent treatment. Had to start over and basically create a swamp in my yard. Felt like a plant murderer for a week.
