My gravel patio turned into a mud pit after one storm

Laid down 3 inches of crushed stone over landscape fabric in April, looked great for a month. Then a solid week of rain washed the fine stuff right through the fabric and left me with a slick, messy slope near the shed. Anyone else have luck with a different base layer or should I just pour concrete and be done with it?

That "looked great for a month" hits home, seems like everything good these days only lasts until the first real test.
