Pro tip: test your new sprinkler zone before you bury the line
I was in my Denver backyard last month and turned on the system, only to have a geyser shoot up from a cracked fitting I missed. Had to dig up a 15 foot section of fresh trench to fix it, which took all afternoon.

You're missing the point of the whole step. It's not just about speed, it's about making sure the roots are actually covered. Skipping it means the plant can dry out and die faster.
