Reading a patio building thread at 6am and now I need to vent about weed fabric
I was scrolling a landscaping forum over coffee and a guy with 20 years of hardscape experience said weed fabric under a gravel patio is a waste of $80 and a weekend. His point was that dirt and seeds just pile up on top of the fabric anyway, and then you have weeds growing IN the fabric that are way harder to pull than weeds in plain gravel. I did fabric under my fire pit area two summers ago and he is right, the weeds came back by August and now I have to dig through torn fabric to get them out. Anyone else rip theirs out, or did I just lay it wrong?

Did you put down the fabric then just dump gravel straight on top?
