That $400 pergola kit turned into a pile of twisted metal
Bought a cheap aluminum pergola off Amazon last spring cause I wanted shade for the patio without spending thousands. The thing barely survived two windstorms before the crossbars snapped and the whole frame started leaning like a drunk guy. Has anyone else had luck with any of those budget kits or am I stuck saving up for a real one?

Check if your home insurance covers wind damage to structures like that. Sometimes they'll pay out for things that fail that fast, especially if you documented the install.
