The weekend my 12 year old pergola finally gave up

Last Saturday a gust came through and just took the whole corner off, rot had been eating the post base for years and I kept patching it. I'm staring at the lumber pile now wondering if I rebuild with cedar or just do a metal frame this time, anyone here make that swap?
