A customer told me my fades looked "muddy" and I switched to a different clipper blade gap

Been using the same #2 guard for years but after three of my regulars mentioned the blend looked off, I swapped to a .5 gap and saw the difference immediately, anyone else had to re-learn their whole clipper setup from one comment?

Take that customer feedback seriously. One bad comment can totally shift your perspective on something you thought you had dialed in. Sometimes you just need that fresh pair of eyes to see what you've been missing.

Yeah, reminds me of this time I was painting my old rowboat. Thought I had the color perfect, some kind of deep blue-gray. First guy who walked by said it looked like a dead fish. At first I was mad, but then I looked at it again in different light and he was right. Mixed in a little green, totally changed the whole thing, looked way better.

Huh, Eric, I don't mean to nitpick but I think you're giving that guy a bit too much credit. Calling it a "dead fish" ain't exactly constructive feedback, that's just being rude. I've had people say blunt things about things I've built or fixed over the years, and half the time they're just talking to hear themselves talk. Now, if he'd said something like "the color looks a little muddy, maybe try adding some green to brighten it up," that would be actual help. You did the right thing by stepping back and judging it for yourself, not just taking his word for it.
