A regular customer finally told me my fades were crooked
Guy came in every 3 weeks for a year. Never said anything. Last Tuesday he pointed at the mirror and said "the left side is higher than the right." I pulled out my clipper guard and checked. He was right. I had been eyeballing the temple line instead of dropping my arm level. Now I step back and check from both angles before I move to the neck. Anyone else had a client catch something you missed for months?

That "check from both angles" part is the real lesson here. I started doing the same thing after a barber friend told me to line up my fade with the client's ear, not their temple. It sounds obvious, but when you're in the zone, you get locked into one side and your brain fills in the other. Now I do a quick mirror check from the front and back before I even touch the neckline, and I catch way more little issues early.

Oh, my friend Tim had this exact problem with his beard line. Took him three visits to fix it!
