Can we talk about clipper maintenance between appointments

I was between cuts last Tuesday at a shop in Flagstaff and noticed this guy wiping down his clippers with alcohol after every single head. Not just a quick spray either, he was taking a toothbrush to the blades. Made me realize I've been way too relaxed about keeping my gear clean mid day. How often do you guys actually stop and do a deep clean on your clippers during a busy shift?

that phrase "smell the last guy's grease" hit me like a freight train. i can't believe someone actually walked out over that, but honestly i get it especially in flagstaff where the dry air makes everything stronger. that's gotta be such a gut punch moment though, realizing your clippers are holding onto that much funk from the last client.

Wait, are you saying someone actually walked out mid cut over a smell? That's wild. I've been in plenty of cramped spaces but never had a customer leave over something that strong. Must have been a real nasty buildup to make someone stand up and walk out like that.

Last Tuesday I had someone walk out mid cut because they said they could smell the last guy's grease on my clippers. That was a wake up call for sure. Now I keep a little cup of alcohol and a brush handy, and I try to do a quick wipe down every 3 or 4 heads at least. It takes like 30 seconds but man it makes a difference in how clean the cut feels and how long the blades last. Little things like that really add up when you're busy.
