Clipper blade slipped mid-taper, client walked out with a bald patch

Happened yesterday at my chair in a busy shop on 5th and Main. I was doing a skin fade on a regular, and my Andis blade guard popped off right as I hit the sideburn area. One second I'm blending, next there's a quarter-sized bare spot above his ear. I froze for a sec, then just owned it honestly. Told him straight up, "Hey man, I need to fix this, here's the plan." I cleaned up the patch, made it symmetrical on the other side, and dropped the price by 15 bucks. He laughed it off in the end, but my hands were shaking for the next hour. Anyone else had a guard fail on them mid-cut? How do you keep your cool without making the client nervous?
