Dropped $200 on a 'pro' clipper blade sharpening kit and it was a total scam
I bought this kit from a guy on Instagram who claimed he could teach me to sharpen any blade in 10 minutes, but the stones were cheap and the instructions were useless. After ruining two good blades trying to follow his steps, I realized I could have just sent them out to a real sharpener for $15 each. Has anyone else wasted money on one of those DIY sharpening schemes, or am I the only sucker here?

You mentioned the guy "claimed he could teach me to sharpen any blade in 10 minutes" which was your first red flag right there. Real sharpening takes practice and decent equipment, not a magic 10 minute trick from some Instagram salesman. Sounds like you learned the hard way that cheap stones and bad instructions just wreck your tools faster than doing nothing at all.

Exactly right about the cheap stones. @the_mary was spot on too about that 10 minute claim being the red flag, but honestly even a good stone won't save you if the technique is garbage.
