Dropped $340 on a Wahl senior set for the chair, saved me from quitting
My old clippers died mid fade on a Saturday rush and I had a guy in the chair with a wedding at 4pm. Ran to Sally Beauty on 5th and grabbed a Wahl Senior for $340, which stung, but it cut cleaner than anything I owned. Two months later my cheap backup finally gave out too and that Senior is still going strong. Anyone else find that one pricey tool ended up being the thing that kept you in the game?
The $340 hurts up front but that Senior will outlast three of those $60 Amazon specials, in my experience. I keep a jar in the shop and drop $20 in every week for tool money, so when something dies on a Saturday I am not stuck. Two things I learned the hard way: keep a spare cord and blade set for your main clipper, and never let your backup get so old you forget it is dying. That mid-fade breakdown in front of a wedding client is a lesson you only need once.
