My chair setup went from folding chair to full station in 6 years, and the mirror is what did it
Started out with a folding chair, a hand mirror duct taped to a shelf, and one set of clippers I bought used for $40. Now it's a real chair, a swivel stand, good lighting, and a wall mirror behind the client. Whole thing changed slow, one piece at a time, mostly when I could afford it.
But that wall mirror. That was the big one. Before, I was working off angles and guessing how the back looked from the front. Once clients could see the back of their own head while I worked, everything got easier. Less back and forth, fewer surprises at the end.
Took a customer pointing it out to me, honestly. Guy looked at my setup and said the mirror behind the chair was the best money in the room.
What's the one piece of your setup you'd never give back?
