Old barber at the shop told me my clipper blade selection was lazy
He said I was using too wide a blade for blending and showed me how a #2 with a half guard actually gives a cleaner fade on coarse hair. Has your go-to blade combo ever gotten called out by a veteran?

Not to be that guy but is this really something to lose sleep over lol. I get that old timers have their methods and they work for them but a half guard vs a full guard on a #2 just sounds like splitting hairs to me. They act like using a wider blade is some mortal sin when the customer probably can't tell the difference once you hit them with the mirror. Half the time these dudes are just gatekeeping because they spent 30 years doing it one way and cant stand seeing someone cut corners lmao. Unless your fade is coming out choppy or the blend is trash then who cares what blade you use. Just my two cents but the results matter way more than the tools you grab.
