Stopped using a $150 clipper because the cord was too short - got a $40 one that works better

Bought a fancy corded Wahl at a barber supply shop last spring. Ran it for a month and kept fighting with the 6 foot cord. Swapped to a $40 cordless model from a drugstore. Same cuts, zero hassle, and I can move around the chair. Why are we paying for brand names when the basics do the job? Anyone else ditch an expensive tool for something simple?

Jumped in and bought a fancy Italian espresso machine once, $300, because everyone said it was the best. After a week of fiddling with the grinder and cleaning the portafilter, I grabbed a $20 stovetop moka pot from the grocery store. Makes better coffee, takes two minutes to rinse out, and I don't have to watch YouTube tutorials every morning. Sometimes we just get sold on the hype when the simple stuff was never broken.

My dad bought a $500 vacuum once because the salesman said it would "last forever." It broke in two years, and the replacement parts cost more than a whole new machine. Meanwhile, my neighbor @the_lisa has been using the same $80 Kenmore for like a decade. I think we just get sold on this idea that paying more means you're officially an adult or something. Overpriced tools are just a tax on people who want to feel like they made it.

That moka pot comment really hit home. I think we get brainwashed into thinking expensive means better when half the time the cheap thing just works without all the fuss.
