A small habit that saved my patience with tricky derailleurs.
When I get stuck, I step away for five minutes. Coming back fresh usually solves the problem.

That five minute break is a solid idea. What do you actually do when you step away? Like, do you make a coffee, stare at a wall, or just switch to a different part of the bike?

Ever think those short breaks were just lazy? I used to SKIP breaks to keep my pace up, honestly. But trying a five-minute stop to just WALK around or sip water made a HUGE difference. Like on a steep hill climb, pausing to catch my breath let me finish STRONGER. @robin628, your point about switching bike parts is smart, but I found even staring at the sky helps reset my focus. Now I swear by those tiny pauses, they're not downtime, they're boost time.

Sometimes a break stops you from making stupid mistakes later.

Breaks can stop you from getting stuck in a bad way of thinking. I've seen it when a fresh look at a problem shows a simple fix you missed before. That mental reset is what makes the real difference.
