Appreciation post: I've seen three shops in the last month torque carbon seatposts to spec but still creak because they didn't apply assembly paste to the binder wedge.

It's a simple step that's often skipped in the manual, but that interface between the wedge and the frame is a huge noise source, so what other small, often-missed steps have you guys found that make a big difference?

Greasing pedal threads stops that annoying clicking sound for good.

Remember reading @emmaclark's tip last season. Slapped some marine grease on my old mountain bike pedals before a long ride. That quiet click-free spin was a revelation, especially on rough trails where every little noise gets amplified. It's one of those simple fixes that feels like a professional mechanic's secret. My commuter bike got the same treatment and now the only sound is the chain humming.

Glad it worked for @jackson.faith, but that grease trick is a temporary fix on worn pedals. Mine started clicking again after a few wet rides.

Funny thing about that click though - have you ever checked if the pedal itself is actually bad versus just needing grease? Had a buddy spend a whole afternoon chasing a click, regreased everything twice, turned out it was his cleat on the shoe catching the crank arm every rotation. Grease wont fix a mechanical mismatch like that, but it'll sure make you feel better while you're troubleshooting the wrong part. Sometimes you gotta ride it hard in a parking lot with your ear right down there to really pinpoint the noise.
