Finally realized I've been torquing carbon seatposts wrong for years after a customer's post creaked on the third ride.

The Park Tool guide said 'lubricate the binder bolt threads and the clamp contact surfaces, not the post itself,' which I'd totally missed, and now I'm wondering what other basic steps I've been glossing over.

Yeah, that guide's a lifesaver for sure.

Totally agree with nancyn69, that guide is full of those easy to miss details. I started checking the frame and post for grit with isopropyl alcohol too, which they mention. It's crazy how many creaks come from a tiny bit of dirt in the clamp.

Heard the same thing about using a torque wrench on the clamp body itself, not just the bolt.
