Hot take: I thought the park tool shop apron was just for show until I tried one at the Philly bike co-op.

I was fixing a stuck bottom bracket and kept dropping my 15mm wrench on the ground. The guy next to me handed me his apron and said 'try the pocket'. Having that wrench right there saved me so much bending over. Do you all use shop aprons or just keep tools on the bench?

That Cleveland story is a real nightmare scenario, man. I can totally see how a loose apron could be a safety problem around spinning wheels. I stick to a magnetic parts tray for that exact reason.

So the apron got caught in a truing stand, @jade_jenkins?

My old shop in Cleveland banned aprons after a mechanic got his caught in a truing stand. The thing yanked him right into the wheel, broke three spokes. I just lay my most used tools on a rag on the top tube. Everything's in sight, nothing's dangling near moving parts. An apron is just extra fabric asking to get tangled when you're reaching over a frame.
