Hot take: That new 'universal' tubeless sealant we all got samples of last month is eating through valve cores in under a week.

I've had three customers come back with slow leaks in Chicago since last Tuesday, and each time the brass valve core threads were corroded and gunked up with a weird, rubbery residue from that specific brand.

Ugh, tell me about it! My spare tube's valve stem looked like it got chewed on after I tried that junk.

Guess that's what they mean by 'universal' - it works on everything, including destroying your valves.

My buddy used that stuff on his old truck. Said it cleaned the fuel line so well it took the valves with it.

Had the same issue with a batch of those samples. Switched back to the orange sealant from the bike shop on Main. No more crunchy valve cores. Cleaned the threads with a wire brush and some isopropyl alcohol before the swap. Been solid for two months now.
