Rant: The shop owner's 'fix' for a stripped bottom bracket

Last week at the shop in Tacoma, a guy brings in his gravel bike. The owner, who's not a real mechanic, had tried to fix a creak. He used a 3/8 inch drive impact gun on the bottom bracket. Stripped the threads right out of the carbon frame. Told the customer it was 'fine' and just needed more grease. I had to be the one to explain the frame was junk. How do you even start that conversation with a customer?
