The seized seatpost clamp that cost me a frame in Portland
Last Saturday I was swapping a saddle on a customer's commuter in my shop. The quick release felt tight, so I gave it a turn with a 5mm Allen key. The clamp bolt snapped clean off inside the post, and the post was seized to the frame from years of road salt. Took me 45 minutes with penetrating oil, a hammer, and a torch to free it without wrecking the seat tube. Anyone else deal with frozen seatposts on older steel frames, or is it just the coastal weather here?
