TIL I've been over-tightening quick-release skewers for years

A customer's front wheel came loose on a test ride, and my boss pointed out I was cranking them to 10 Nm instead of just snug. What's your go-to method for setting QR tension?

Just snug works fine, relax.

Tell that to paige331's stripped threads.

Heard a podcast say snug can actually damage threads over time.

Oh come on, how much torque are you really applying if "snug" damages threads? A basic quarter turn past hand-tight isn't gonna strip anything unless your threads are already junk or you're using a gorilla grip. I'd trust a mechanic over a podcast any day, snug is fine for 99% of jobs.
