Warning: I fixed a creaky press fit bottom bracket with a $4 tube of silicone sealant from the hardware store.

After the customer said no to a new frame, I cleaned the shell, filled the gaps with the sealant, let it cure for a full day, and the noise has been gone for three months now, but has anyone else tried something this weird that actually held up?

Honestly that's a brilliant hack for a creaky press fit frame. The silicone probably acts like a flexible bushing to kill movement and sound. Seen people use pipe thread sealant too, but that's usually a last resort before the frame goes in the bin. If it's quiet after three months, you might have actually fixed it for good.

Ever try grease? I packed mine with marine grease and it's been silent for a year now.

Hope it holds up better than my last fix with duct tape and wishful thinking. Silicone sounds smarter than my usual approach of just riding louder to drown out the creaks. Let us know if it starts talking again.
