Wasted $80 on a generic lube kit. Should have known better.

Bought that Park Tool lube bundle from Amazon. Chain, cassette, and derailleur all gunked up after 2 weeks in Seattle rain. Switched to Squirt wax lube on a buddy's advice. Night and day difference. Anyone else have a go-to chain lube?

Read a review from a bike mechanic who swore by wax lube for wet conditions, so I gave Squirt a shot too. It's way cleaner than the drip lubes that just attract grit and grime. My drivetrain stays quiet and shifts smooth even through puddles now.

Man, you're out here living the wax life while I'm still stuck in the Stone Age with my gritty chain lube. I swear my drivetrain sounds like a bag of rocks every time I hit a wet patch. Maybe I should give Squirt a try before my chain decides to file for divorce from my cassette. Props to you for figuring out the clean setup though, I just end up with a layer of mud paste after every ride.

Honestly I don't get the hype sometimes lol. Like is my drivetrain really that mad at me if I just wipe it down and relube every couple rides? I tried wax once and it flaked off everywhere and my shifting felt worse. Maybe I did it wrong but I don't have the patience for all that prep work people talk about. Plus if you're riding in mud anyway doesn't everything just turn into paste regardless of what you put on it? But hey if it works for you and it keeps your chain quiet then go for it, I just don't think the average person needs to stress that much over chain lube.
