Went back to rim brakes after 10 years on discs

Picked up a 90s steel frame at a swap meet in Portland for $80. Threw some cheap calipers on it just to get it rolling. Figured it would be a bar bike, nothing serious. But after a month of daily rides in the rain, they stop fine. Even in the wet. I was wrong about old tech. The setup is way lighter and simpler, no bleeding, no rotor rub. Still keeping the disc bike for mountain stuff, but for city riding I'm converted. Anyone else run vintage brakes as their main commuter?

Daily rides in the rain" is where I gotta stop you lol. I ran cheap calipers through one Portland winter and they were sketchy as hell, pads wore down in like two months. Maybe you got lucky with the rim surface or something, but my experience was the exact opposite of yours.
