Working on a gravel bike at the Copper Harbor trailhead taught me a quick fix for a stripped pedal thread

A rider was stuck with a cross-threaded crank arm, and I used a piece of teflon tape wrapped around the pedal spindle threads as a temporary sealant to get him rolling for $0. Anyone have a more permanent trailside repair for this besides a helicoil kit?

Epoxy is a terrible idea for a trailside fix, it makes a permanent mess and could ruin the crank arm for good. That teflon tape trick is actually pretty smart for a free, quick get-home solution. A helicoil is the only real repair, but who carries a full tap set on a ride? Sometimes a temporary fix is the best you can do without making things worse. What's the rush to glue things together when the goal is just to finish the ride?

Eh, how many times are you really gonna re-use a stripped crank arm anyway? Most people just replace it.

Try a tiny dab of epoxy on the threads.
