Binged a 90s cop show from 3 years ago and it hit different

I started watching Homicide: Life on the Street last month after seeing it mentioned on here. It's from like 1993 so the tech and fashion are hilarious, but the writing still holds up. Has anyone else gone back to an older show and found it way better than modern stuff?

Haven't you ever started a show and realized it's basically just comfort food for your brain? I tried rewatching a 2000s crime drama recently and it felt like I was watching my dad's old home videos with the shaky camera and questionable haircuts. But the stories held up better than half the stuff on Netflix now, which is honestly a little embarrassing for me to admit since I used to mock those shows. It's kind of freeing though, knowing that good writing doesn't care about your phone being a brick or your computer making noises like a jet engine. Plus, watching characters smoke inside and drive boxy cars makes me feel like I'm time traveling in my own living room.

Yeah I'm gonna have to disagree hard on that "good writing" part...

Start with The Wire season 3, trust me it shortcuts the camera growing pains.
