Found a way to actually finish a show without getting distracted halfway through
I kept starting shows and then dropping them after maybe 5 episodes. My fix was to use the 'skip intro' button on Netflix, but also skip the recap at the start. It cut out about 3 minutes per episode. Over a 10 episode season, that's like a whole extra episode of time saved, and it kept the story moving faster for me. Anyone else have a simple trick like this that keeps you locked in?

Bro that is genius, I do the exact same thing. I also turn on subtitles even for English shows, it forces me to pay attention and I don't miss little details when someone mumbles. It's a total game changer for my ADHD brain, I finally got through all of Breaking Bad without checking my phone every two minutes.

Wow, I always thought subtitles were just for foreign films. Hearing how it helps you focus totally changed my mind, that makes so much sense. I'm gonna try it next time I watch something.

Actually read an article about how our brains get used to the rhythm of TV episodes, and those little breaks for intros and recaps can totally derail your focus. Skipping them is smart because it keeps the story flowing like one long movie. I've started doing something similar by watching at 1.25x speed for slower talky scenes, just to keep things moving. It feels weird at first but you get used to it fast. That combined with subtitles like others mentioned really cuts down on the urge to pick up my phone.
