Had to choose between The Americans and The Leftovers for my next binge
Picked The Americans and three episodes in I'm honestly worried it's too slow but everyone says it pays off huge so I'm pushing through has anyone else felt that way about a show and stuck with it?

Yeah but slow doesn't always mean boring, right? The Americans takes its time building up that tension because the whole premise is about living a lie for decades, not just sneaking around every episode. Did you make it to the scene with the neighbor in the garage yet? That's the kind of thing that makes the slow burn worth it. Push through to at least the end of season 1, that's when it really grabs you.

Yeah cause who needs plot when you can just watch paint dry, am I right?

The garage scene is exactly what I mean, that payoff comes from sitting through the quiet moments first. It's like waiting for bread to rise or watching paint dry on a fence you already painted twice - most things in life that are worth a damn take forever to get going. Three episodes is barely a warmup for a show that stretches out its tension like a politician dragging out a press conference. Stick with it, because the boring parts are just the setup for the real knife twists later.
