How I binged The Wire in 7 days and caught a detail everybody misses

I see people online talking about Season 2 of The Wire like it's the weak link, but I think they're watching it wrong. I did a full rewatch last month and realized the whole dock workers storyline is actually a direct mirror of the drug dealers from Season 1. The show is about institutions failing people, not just cops and criminals. Most folks skip the slow parts or scroll their phones during the political scenes, and then they miss how every season builds on the last. If you haven't watched it all in a week like I did, you lose that connected thread. Has anyone else noticed how the Greek's operation ties back to the Barksdale crew in ways people rarely mention?

The Greek is basically the same kingpin as Avon, just with a passport.

Yeah the part where you said "just with a passport" really clicked for me. I used to think The Greek was somehow above the street level stuff, like he was this mysterious figure running a cleaner operation. But when you look at it, he's doing the exact same thing Avon did, controlling the supply and using violence to protect his territory. The only real difference is he's got that European connection and can move around different cities without raising flags. Both of them build their whole empire on fear and loyalty, and both of them end up losing people they care about because of it. Once I started seeing them as two sides of the same coin, it made the whole show even more tragic.
