I finally found the right order to watch those crime docs

Every true crime docuseries I've binged has this weird pattern where they drop the key witness testimony at episode 3, then backtrack all the way to the beginning. My friend in Denver pointed it out during our watch party last month and now I keep starting at episode 3 to get the hook, then going back to 1 and 2. Has anyone else noticed this pacing trick in these shows, or is it just the ones I keep picking?
