Just wasted $60 on a streaming service I barely touched for 3 months

Signed up for that new detective show network back in February thinking I'd binge all their exclusive series. Watched maybe 5 episodes total before I forgot I even had it. Checked my bank statement today and saw three months of charges I completely spaced on. Anyone else have a subscription they forgot to cancel?

Huh, I gotta say that's kind of a silly complaint. $60 over three months is basically nothing for entertainment. You probably spend more on coffee in a week without thinking. The real problem here isn't the service it's that you didn't set a reminder or cancel right after signing up. Streaming companies count on people forgetting but that's not their fault. Honestly if you got even one show you liked out of it that's money well spent. People waste way more on stuff like gym memberships or takeout without a second thought.

Nail on the head. Way cheaper than a night out.

Yeah but $60 over three months is still $60 you could have put toward something you actually needed or wanted to do. I think Joel is missing the point that it's not about the total being small, it's about being charged for something you're not using anymore. If I forgot to cancel a service that's on me, but the companies design their systems to make it easy to forget and hard to stop, feels like that's a choice they make on purpose.
