My coworker's take on binge watching made me rethink my whole weekend routine
I was complaining to my coworker Dave about finishing The Wire in 4 days and he said, 'You're not enjoying the show, you're just racing to the credits.' It hit different because he's right - I was skipping meals and staying up til 3am just to say I finished it. Now I'm forcing myself to watch two episodes a night max (and actually remembering the plot twists). Has anyone else had a friend call them out on their binge habits like that?

Dave's not wrong. Sounds like you were speedrunning a show instead of watching it. Maybe pace yourself before you end up like those people who can't remember what happened in season 2 because they blew through it in a weekend.

See I get what you're saying Parker but I honestly think it depends on the person. @the_simon made a good point earlier about people who just get lost in a story and can't stop. When I watched Succession I did the whole first season in like two days and I remember EVERY detail because I was so locked in. Some of us have brains that work better with bingeing because we catch all the little threads that way. Plus pacing yourself doesn't automatically mean you'll remember things better anyway. I've spaced out shows over weeks before and still forgot plot points by the next episode. It's really just about how your brain processes stuff.

Yeah but I gotta push back a little on the "racing to the credits" thing. Some people actually enjoy watching shows fast because they get lost in the story, not because they want to brag about finishing it. Different strokes, you know?
