Started watching a show from 2008 and it holds up way better than I expected

I just finished Battlestar Galactica (the 2004 one) last week. I figured a 20 year old sci-fi show would feel super dated, especially the effects. But honestly the story about AI and politics felt like it was written last year. It made me think maybe old shows are worth a second look instead of always hunting for something new. Anyone else have a show from that era that surprised you?

Honestly I used to think old shows were just nostalgia bait but Battlestar completely changed my mind. The writing was so good it barely mattered that the tech was outdated.

Is Battlestar Galactica really that deep though? I watched a few episodes and honestly it felt like any other space show with some political stuff thrown in. The acting was fine I guess but the whole thing moves so slow. I don't get why people say it's the best sci fi ever.

Dude my buddy Dave was the same way until he gave it a real shot. He sat down one weekend and watched like 8 episodes straight and called me all freaked out. He said the part where they find out about the cylons living among them made him actually check his own phone for weird texts. It's not just space stuff with politics, its about real hard choices like can you really trust anyone if they might be a machine that doesn't even know it's a machine. You gotta stick with it past the first few episodes where the show is finding its stride.
