Switched from watching shows alone to doing a buddy watch with my sister

I used to binge entire seasons by myself, zooming through 5 episodes a night with no breaks. Then last summer my sister suggested we watch The Bear together, one episode per call every Tuesday. Now I actually pause to talk about scenes and catch details I missed before. The pace is slower but I remember way more of the plot. Has anyone else tried watching a show with a friend and found it changed how you experience the story?

Bickering is half the fun though, right?

Ha, yeah. Me and my neighbor did that with true crime shows and now we just argue about which detective is wrong.

Bickering is half the fun" - that's what my friend Linda used to say about her and her husband watching cooking competitions. They'd watch Chopped and yell at the TV about whose basket ingredients were worse. One time she got so mad at him for defending a contestant who used canned mushrooms that she didn't talk to him for an hour. Now they have a rule where they can only argue about the judges instead of each other.
