TIL why slow burn shows are better than fast paced ones

I was scrolling through reviews on my phone at lunch and someone said 'this show respects your time by not rushing'. That hit me hard. I always thought fast action was better but I burned through 3 seasons of a slow drama in 2 weeks and actually remembered character names. Has anyone else found that slower pacing makes a show stick with you longer?

...but that's exactly why it works. The slow ones give you time to actually get attached.
