Used to binge watch shows one episode a week like it was church, now I crush whole seasons in two days

I remember back in 2016 I was watching Game of Thrones and I'd actually wait till Sunday night to catch it live with snacks and everything. Now I just wait till a show is fully out and watch it all in one weekend, like I did with The Bear last month that took me from Friday night to Sunday morning. My wife thinks I'm crazy but I can't stand waiting a week for a cliffhanger anymore, it feels like torture. Anybody else switch from weekly viewing to full season drops, or am I just impatient?

Waiting a week feels cruel in this day and age" - that's exactly how I feel too! I tried doing weekly drops for The Last of Us and by the third week I just waited for the whole thing to finish so I could binge it. My brain just doesn't work the slow way anymore, like once I'm invested I NEED to know what happens next right away.

@gracec16 nailed it with the forgetting part, that's a huge reason for me too. But there's another angle nobody talks about - the social media spoiler minefield. I used to have to dodge Twitter and Reddit for days after a big episode dropped, and even then someone's thumbnail would ruin Jon Snow dying or whatever. Binging eliminates that entirely, I can watch it all in one go and then just mute the topic labels after.

Waited a whole week for each Game of Thrones episode too and now looking back I don't know how I had the patience lol. The Bear is a perfect example, I did the exact same thing and it just hits different when you can binge it all without forgetting what happened last episode. My girlfriend gives me the same look when I stay up till 3am finishing a season but I can't help it, waiting a week feels cruel in this day and age. Plus with how much content is out there, if I don't binge it I'll probably just forget to finish it at all. You're not alone in this, streaming has ruined us all for traditional weekly schedules. It's a good kind of ruined though, I wouldn't go back.
