Watching shows on my phone used to be fine, but a friend's setup made me rethink it
For a long time, I'd just watch stuff on my phone, even at home. It was easy and I didn't think much about it. Then I visited a buddy in Austin about six months ago, and he had his TV set up with a good soundbar and dimmed lights. We watched a few episodes of a thriller, and it felt totally different. The sound made the tension real, and I wasn't getting texts popping up over the screen. I went home and hooked my laptop to my old TV with an HDMI cable I had in a drawer. Now I make a point to watch on the big screen with the lights off for any show I really care about. The difference is huge, especially for stuff with a lot of detail. Has anyone else made a small switch like that which made binging way better?

Seriously? My phone's way better, no fuss and I can watch anywhere.

My buddy Carl tried watching a movie on his phone during a flight. He spent twenty minutes holding it up, his arm got tired, and the person in front of him reclined their seat. The screen was six inches from his face the whole time. He said he got a headache and missed half the plot. He bought a cheap tablet before his next trip.

Forget the screen size, the real problem is audio. You can't hear anything on a phone over plane noise without cranking the volume and wrecking your ears. A bigger device lets you use over-ear headphones properly, so you actually hear the dialogue and don't end up with a headache from straining to listen. Carl probably missed the plot because he couldn't hear half of it over the engine roar. Good headphones matter more than a bigger screen sometimes.

Honestly I kinda disagree lol I mean yeah sure a big screen is nice but I watch on my phone all the time and I don't miss anything. If the show is good you'll get sucked in no matter what you watch it on. Sound is whatever just turn it up.
