Why does nobody talk about how slow the pacing is at the start of Stranger Things season 3?

I binged the whole series last month and everyone raves about season 3 being the best, but those first three episodes felt like watching paint dry at my desk job, anyone else think it picks up way too late?

Watching paint dry" is exactly right, I felt the same drag through those episodes.

Does that one episode where they're just walking through that foggy forest for like 15 minutes count... my buddy fell asleep during it and I had to rewind three times because I kept zoning out too. I swear that whole stretch could've been cut in half and nobody would've missed a thing. It's like the director was trying to be artsy but just ended up boring everyone instead.
