Why does nobody talk about how streaming services ruin old shows with bad remasters

I used to love rewatching early 2000s shows like Buffy on DVD. Then I tried streaming it last month and the aspect ratio was all wrong, like they cropped out half the frame. It looked zoomed in and cheap, totally killed the vibe. Now I just stick with my old DVDs even if it's a pain to swap discs. Has anyone else noticed this with Buffy or other older shows?

Buffy's 16:9 crop actually looks fine on my 4K TV honestly.

Actually looks fine" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. You do you, but I'll stick with the 4:3.

Yeah I totally get that stone.lisa. I watched the whole series on a 65 inch 4K screen and honestly it looked just fine to me. Sure you lose a little bit at the top and bottom but the picture is way sharper and fills the screen properly. People who complain about the crop probably never actually watched it that way. The remastered colors and clarity make up for it in my book.
