Everyone says turn your hobby into a side hustle, but selling my candles at the Austin flea market last month took the fun out of it
I made 60 candles in my kitchen over three weekends, drove them to the Austin flea market on a Saturday in April, paid $45 for my booth spot, and sat there for 8 hours selling 11 of them for $12 each. The part nobody mentions is that once money is on the line you start resenting the thing you loved, and I caught myself checking my phone between customers instead of just enjoying making stuff. Is it just me or does anyone else feel like the second you slap a price tag on a hobby, some of the joy leaks out?
