Hospital visiting hours exist for a reason, not to make your life harder
I work nights on a med-surg floor and the 8pm cutoff drives families crazy. They argue, they sneak in, they act like we're the fun police. But last Tuesday a patient coded at 6:45am after his daughter snuck in at 11pm and gave him a milkshake against his diet orders. Aspiration pneumonia is real. I get wanting to be there, but 10 minutes of visiting isn't worth a three day setback. Maybe it's just me, but has anyone else watched a well-meaning relative undo a week of care in one visit?
